Since the beginning of our activities in June of 2012, we have been annually developing a chained work whose generating theme is the communnity where the Child Development Space Professor Moacyr de Góes (EDI) is located, the "Complexo da Maré".
Each year, the theme "Maré" is explored under different views but all of them have in common the purpose of expanding the universe of knowledge of the children starting from their own reality.
In 2012, the anual work plan "For an even better Maré" investigated the favela and changes ocurred during the years. The children studied different kinds of houses.
In 2013, the anual work plan "From the Universe to Maré's Universe" invited the children to make a great journey that began on the moon. Maré and other places around Brazil were also visited during the trip.
The "Penpals Project" continues the work that is being developed since the beginning. This year's title is "From Maré to the World" and will invite children and adults to a new journey with a lot of knowledge about outher countries' culture and this is going to happen through the exchange of correspondence with people from all around the world.
General objective: Encourage respect and appreciation of different cultures broadening the cultural repertoire of children and educators through the exchange of letters, drawings, pictures, information, music and books with children and adults in different countries.
